                    Position Title : Data Analysis Assistant (DTM)
                          Duty Station : IOM Libya in Tunis, Tunisia
                        Classification : General Service Staff, Grade G5
            Type of Appointment : Six months, with the possibility of extension
        Estimated Start Date : As soon as possible
                    Closing Date   : August 21st, 2020

Context

 

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator of Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), the Data Analysis Assistant will be responsible for the responsibilities listed below.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

 

  1. In coordination with the supervisor, contribute to the management of databases, dataset extraction for analysis and data representation. 
  2. Lead the data cleaning process to ensure the timely delivery of data. 
  3. Analyse micro-data collected during DTM’s regular rounds, including multivariate analysis.
  4. Provide data visualization support for DTM’s Reporting Officer to ensure DTM’s data is easily understood by its audience.
  5. Verify the information and accuracy of data in the physical forms/questionnaire and correct before processing into IOM’s database system. 
  6. Consolidate data collected through routine DTM systems and ad-hoc surveys and assessments and draft reports.  
  7. Periodic analysis of flow monitoring questionnaires and data anomalies submitted by DTM enumerators and mobility tracking forms received from implementing partners.
  8. Participate in the revision of the tools and training of the surveyors, when needed. 
  9. Ensure of proper archiving/saving of the data collected and of the maintenance of the equipment used in the field as per established procedures.
  10. Draft trainings’ note for files (NFF) and meetings’ reports.  
  11. Perform any other duties that might be assigned

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

 

Education

  • University degree in human siences , Public or Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience or; 
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience;

Experience 

 

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic ;
  • Experience in working with migration related issues;
  • Work experience from an international organization is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in an international, humanitarian/development organization and/or in capacity building initiatives is an advantage;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds and respect for diversity and gender equality;
  • Experience preferably in an international organization. Experience with IOM or another international organization a plus; or master’s degree in the above field is an advantage; 
  • Ability to pay close attention to details and work with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines   
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a team of colleagues 
  • Able to set up internal reporting system.

 

Languages

Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. 

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
